S. ORESTIS PALERMOS

Philosophy of Mind
Epistemology, Ethics
and Technology

I am an assistant professor of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina, Greece. My research lies at the intersection of philosophy of mind and cognitive science, epistemology, philosophy of science, philosophy of technology and applied ethics.

I am mostly curious about the ways philosophy can impact the design of emerging technologies and socio-technical systems, as well as about the nature of knowledge and  metaphysics of cognition.

Before returning to Greece, I was a lecturer (tenured assistant professor) and then a senior lecturer (associate professor) at Cardiff University; before that, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh, wherefrom I also received my PhD and MSc in Philosophy. My undergraduate degree (BSc), which is from the National Technical University of Athens, is in Chemical Engineering.
